Thankful for 2020

2020… well, it’s a year that we’ll all remember. A lot of people say that it’s been an awful year, the worst in their lives. For me, honestly? It’s been kinda hard. But it’s been awfully good, too. I’m thankful for 2020. It’s been a year of growth, of reachingRead More…

How I Incorporate a Little Bit of Christmas Year-Round

Have y’all figured out yet that I celebrate Christmas all year long? 😉 It’s such a special, fun holiday, and of course we’re supposed to celebrate Jesus’ birth every day of the year and thank Him for the great sacrifice He made when He came to earth as a tinyRead More…

A little reminder…

A flower does not think of competing with the one next to it. It just blooms.

-Zen Shin

I started Everyday Blooms with the hope that I cou I started Everyday Blooms with the hope that I could encourage other Christian girls in their everyday walk with Jesus. Daily life often gets so mundane and seems so boring, but there is such a special purpose for us in every moment. God has us where we are for a reason. Sometimes it may feel like we’re stuck, that we’re not getting anywhere, but we have to remember the process of a flower.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
First, the seed is buried in the ground, where it goes through a process of dying before it can start growing. Then, a tiny sprout pushes out of one end of the seed and fights its way through the darkness and dirt to poke through aboveground. It slowly grows, but it takes careful cultivating and care to grow healthy and strong, including weeding, watering, and fertilizing. Eventually, a little bud forms, which slowly gets fatter and bigger until one day, a petal bursts out… and then another, and another, until the whole flower is in bloom. And even then, if the flower is part of a bigger plant or bush, the plant continues to grow and continues to produce flowers.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I think of roses in particular. They often die back over the winter, or need to be pruned—sometimes severely—or deadheaded, which is the process of removing all the dead flowers. This may seem like it would harm the growth, but actually, it is cutting away all the unhealthy parts and making room for new growth.

Walk in faith, even when it doesn’t feel like yo Walk in faith, even when it doesn’t feel like you’re moving. Trust God, even when it feels like He isn’t working. Keep doing what you know He has called you to do, even when you feel stuck.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
God is always working, even though we can’t see it sometimes.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Trust His plan.

It’s hard sometimes to surrender to God’s cont It’s hard sometimes to surrender to God’s control. I like being in control, knowing what’s going on, and having a plan for if anything goes wrong.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But sometimes life just isn’t like that. Sometimes it is, but I still need to let go and let God be Lord of my heart. And I have to pray for the Lord to show me His will and His way, and to lead me in the path that He has for me... to write the story that He has for me on my heart.

Simplicity doesn’t have to be complicated. Seems Simplicity doesn’t have to be complicated. Seems kinda “duh,” right? Simple is the opposite of complicated. But sometimes it does get complicated... when our focus gets a little out of whack.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“I think that in chasing simplicity, we sometimes forget to simply live.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am beyond guilty of this. Sometimes I get so caught up in creating the perfect space or project that I forget to slow down and just enjoy where I am, the memories-in-the-making that I’m currently experiencing.”
